Atoms & Atomic structure
Atoms – 5 Points
Everything around us is made up of tiny particles called atoms.
An atom is so small that we cannot see it with our eyes.
Atoms are the building blocks of matter.
Each element (like oxygen, gold, or iron) is made of only one kind of atom.
When atoms join together, they form molecules (like H₂O for water).
Atomic Structure – 5 Points
An atom has three main parts – protons, neutrons, and electrons.
Protons and neutrons are in the center, called the nucleus.
Electrons move around the nucleus in orbits or shells.
Protons are positive, electrons are negative, and neutrons have no charge.
The number of protons in an atom decides which element it is.
