Why is classification needed?

Human classification-

Species-homo sapiens, members of the genus homo with a high forehead and thin skull bones.

Genus-homo, hominids with upright posture and large brains.

Family-hominids with relatively flat faces and 3 dimensional vision.

Order-primates, mammals with collar bones and grasping fingers.

Class-mammals, chordates with further or hair with milk glands.

Phylum-chordates, animals with a backbone.

Kingdom-animals, organisms able to move on their own.


Tiger classification-

Species-P.tigiris, bengal tiger.

Genus-panthera, wild feline.

Family-filidae, feline.

Order-mammailia, warm blooded.

Phylum-chordata, had a backbone.

Kingdom-animalia, animal.


Definition of breeding in species:-

When a species produce fertile offspring that has a even amount of chromosomes.


A species is the fundamental unit of biological classification, defined as a group of organisms capable of inbreeding to produce fertile offspring.


Classification is needed because it helps scientists differentiate between things and it brings order to chaos.

Mammals.

Amphibians.

Reptiles.

Fish.

Birds.
