A percentage is a part of something, compared to 100.

The sign for percentage is "%".

"Percent" means "per hundred" or "out of 100".

50% means 50 out of 100; 100% means the whole thing.

To find a percentage, divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100.

Percentages can be written as fractions (e.g., 25% = 25/100).

Percentages can also be written as decimals (e.g., 20% = 0.20).

Any number can be turned into a percentage by showing it as "out of 100".
