fruits

Fruits are the developed mature ovaries of a flower that contain seeds.

They form after fertilization and help in protecting and spreading the seeds to grow new plants

dispersal

Seed dispersal is the process of spreading or moving seeds away from the parent plant.

This helps plants grow in new places and reduces competition for sunlight, water, and nutrients.

differences between fruits and vegetables

  • Fruits are parts of the plant that develop from the flower’s ovary and they contain seeds inside.

  • Example: mango, papaya, tomato, cucumber, pumpkin, beans.

  • Vegetables are other edible parts of the plant (not the fruit part).

  • They can be roots (carrot), stems (potato is stem/tuber), leaves (spinach), or flower parts (cauliflower).

  • the main difference:

If it has seeds and comes from a flower → it is a fruit.

If it is any other part of the plant (root, stem, leaf, flower) → it is a vegetable.
