🪨 What are rocks?

Rocks are hard things found on the Earth.

They are made of minerals.

We see rocks on mountains, roads, and riverbeds.

Examples: stone, granite, marble

Fun fact: A tiny rock is called a pebble!

🧱 What are materials?

Materials are things we use to make objects.

Everything around us is made of some material.

Examples:

Wood → table

Plastic → bottle

Metal → spoon

Glass → window

👉 Rocks, soil, wood, and plastic are all materials.

🌱 What is soil?

Soil is the loose top layer of the Earth.

Plants grow in soil 🌱

Soil is made of:

Tiny bits of rocks

Air

Water

Dead plants and animals (this part is called humus)

Fun fact: Without soil, plants cannot grow!
