i something heat’s up it get hot we call that thermal energy.

The hotter the object is the more thermal energy it has (hotter=more thermal energy).

a battery can store it’s energy for years petrol can store it’s energy for millions of years but thermal energy is not like that is that the thermal energy goes to it’s surroundings exaple is you go near fire you will feel hot because the thermal energy goes to it’s sorroundings.

Fun fact

this is how people make hot water long ago they heat stones with fire (so it get thermal energy) then when it get’s heated enough they put it in water so the thermal energy goes to the water
