Evaporation

Evaporation is a fascinating process that happens all around us every day, often without us noticing. Only the fastest-moving molecules at the surface of a liquid escape into the air as water vapour, leaving the remaining liquid slightly cooler. This is why sweat cools your body and why wet roads slowly dry after rain. Wind, heat, and a larger surface area all make evaporation happen faster. Although it may seem like water simply disappears, it actually rises into the atmosphere and becomes part of the water cycle, eventually helping to form clouds and rain.
