How does heat come when there is pressure?

  • Deep underground, more and more layers of rock pile up.

  • The heavy rocks press down on the buried plants and animals.

  • This pushes them deeper into the Earth.

  • The deeper you go, the hotter the Earth becomes.

so:

  • Pressure comes from the weight of the rocks.

  • Heat comes from the Earth's hot interior.
