there are three things in a popcorn

1. Pericarp (shell)

   
   

2. water (inside)

   
   

3. starch (inside)

so when you heat up the popcorn the water becomes steam how? Because in gas the atom are far from each other and water atoms are kind of close to each other and solid atoms are very close to each other. Gas = stranger, water = classmates, solid = friends

now when we heat the water it`s atom spreads and the water becomes gas next when the steam hits the starch it become jelly like substance how? because jelly is kind of like water so the starch is solid and if you heat solid it becomes water so that is how the starch become jelly and next the steam and jelly expanse then it give pressure to the pericarp and the pericarp can`t hold the pressure so the pericarp pops that is how popcorn is made.
