Photosynthesis is how green plants make their own food.

Plants use sunlight, carbon dioxide (CO₂), and water (H₂O) for this process.

The green pigment chlorophyll in leaves helps absorb sunlight.

This process mainly happens in the leaves, inside chloroplasts.

Plants take in carbon dioxide from the air through tiny holes called stomata.

They absorb water from the soil through their roots.

Using sunlight, plants change carbon dioxide and water into glucose (sugar).

Oxygen (O₂) is also made and released into the air.

Glucose is stored in plants as food for energy and growth.

Photosynthesis is important because it gives food to plants and oxygen to humans and animals.
