Energy Resources
Energy Resources
Definition:
Energy resources are things from nature that give us energy to do work like lighting, heating, cooking, moving vehicles, and making electricity.
Main Types of Energy Resources
1. Renewable Energy Resources
These do not finish and can be used again and again.
Solar energy – energy from the Sun
Wind energy – energy from moving air
Water (Hydel) energy – energy from flowing water
Biogas – energy from plant and animal waste
Geothermal energy – energy from heat inside the Earth
Examples:
Solar panels
Windmills
Dams
2. Non-Renewable Energy Resources
These can finish because they take millions of years to form.
Coal
Petroleum (oil)
Natural gas
Examples:
Petrol for vehicles
Coal for power stations
Gas for cooking
Why Energy Resources Are Important
They help us produce electricity
They help us travel
They help in industries and factories
They make our daily life easy
Interesting Points:
Renewable energy is clean and eco-friendly
Non-renewable energy causes pollution
Solar energy is the largest energy source for Earth
Fun Fact:
The Sun gives Earth more energy in one hour than humans use in one whole year.
