Mixtures and Solution

  1. Mixes (Mixtures)

    • A mixture is when two or more things are put together but they don’t change into something new.

    • Example: Sand + salt, rice + dal, nuts + raisins.

    • You can separate them easily.

    Types of mixtures:

    1. Homogeneous mixture – Looks the same everywhere (like sugar in water).

    2. Heterogeneous mixture – You can see the different parts (like salad).

      2. Solutions

    3. A solution is a special kind of mixture where one substance dissolves in another.

    4. Example: Salt in water, sugar in tea.

    5. You cannot separate it easily, because it looks the same everywhere.

    Parts of a solution:

    1. Solute – the thing that dissolves (salt, sugar).

    2. Solvent – the thing that does the dissolving (water, milk).
