Definition:

The periodic table is a chart that shows all the elements in science, arranged in a special order.


How the periodic table is arranged:

  • Rows are called Periods ➝ There are 7 periods.

  • Columns are called Groups ➝ There are 18 groups.

  • Elements in the same group have similar properties.


Main types of elements:

  • Metals – shiny and strong (Iron, Gold)

  • Non-metals – dull and light (Oxygen, Carbon)

  • Metalloids – have properties of both


Important facts:

  • Hydrogen (H) is the first element.

  • Elements are arranged by increasing atomic number.

  • Each element has a symbol (O for Oxygen, Na for Sodium).

The periodic table is like a map of all building blocks of everything around us!
