Simple machines .
Simple machines are basic mechanical devices that make work easier by altering the direction or magnitude of a force. The six classic simple machines are the lever, inclined plane, wedge, wheel and axle, pulley, and screw. More complex machines are often combinations of these simple tools.
1. Lever A lever is a rigid bar that pivots around a fixed point called a fulcrum. It amplifies or changes the direction of force, allowing you to lift or move heavy objects with less effort.
Example: A seesaw. The fulcrum is the center support. You push down on your side (effort) to lift your friend on the other end (load). 2. Inclined plane An inclined plane is simply a slanted, flat surface, like a ramp. It helps you move objects to a higher or lower level using less force over a longer distance than lifting the object straight up.
Example: A wheelchair ramp or a slide at a playground.
3. Wedge A wedge consists of two inclined planes joined together to form a sharp edge. It is used to split, cut, or secure materials by converting a downward force into a sideways force.
Example: A knife. When you push down on the handle, the wedge-shaped blade forces the food apart.
4. Wheel and axle This machine consists of a wheel attached to a central rod, or axle, that rotates with it. It helps to move objects over distances and reduces the friction involved in moving things.
Example: A doorknob. You turn the large wheel (the knob) with less force than it would take to turn the small axle (the central rod).
5. Pulley A pulley is a grooved wheel with a rope or cable running around it. It allows you to lift or move heavy loads by changing the direction of the force you apply.
Example: A flagpole. Pulling down on the rope changes the direction of the force, allowing you to easily raise a flag.
6. Screw A screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a central cylinder. Its spiral ridges, or threads, provide grip and allow it to hold materials together or lift objects.
Example: A jar lid. The threads on the inside of the cap screw onto the threads on the bottle to create a secure seal.

very nice.
