A pitcher plant is a type of plant that eats insects to survive. It lives in places where the soil has very little food so it needs another way to get nutrients. Its leaves are shaped like tubes or these are called pitchers. When an insect lands on the edge of the pitcher it slips and falls inside it. The plant then breaks down the insect and takes its nutrients. Some pitcher plants are small and eat tiny bugs. But others are big and can catch frogs or even small animals. It grows in places like North America , Asia and Australia
