Seeing force
What is a force?
A force is a push or a pull that can change the motion, shape, or direction of an object.
What is a Force Arrow?
A force arrow is a diagram arrow used to show a force acting on an object.
It shows:
where the force acts
which direction the force acts
how strong the force is
What is a Magnet?
A magnet is an object that produces a magnetic force and can attract certain materials, mainly iron, nickel, and cobalt.
Types of Magnets.
Bar magnet – straight shape
Horseshoe magnet – U-shaped
Ring / disc magnet
Electromagnet – works using electricity
What is a Bar Magnet?
A bar magnet is a rectangular-shaped magnet that has two poles: North (N) and South (S) at its ends.
What is a Horseshoe Magnet?
A horseshoe magnet is a U-shaped magnet with its north (N) and south (S) poles at the two open ends.
What is a Ring / Disc Magnet?
A ring magnet or disc magnet is a round-shaped magnet.
A disc magnet is solid and flat.
A ring magnet has a hole in the center.
What is an Electromagnet?
An electromagnet is a temporary magnet made by passing electric current through a coil of wire, usually wrapped around an iron core.
How does it work?
Electricity flows through the wire.
This creates a magnetic field.
The iron core becomes a magnet.
Fun Fact.
A tiny mosquito can survive falling from a great height, but a human can’t because gravity pulls both with force, but air resistance pushes much harder on the mosquito and slows it down.
