Prokaryote kingdom and Protoctist kingdom

Prokaryote Kingdom

  • Includes bacteria and blue-green algae.

  • They are unicellular (single-celled) organisms.

  • No true nucleus — their DNA is not inside a nuclear membrane.

  • Cells are simple in structure compared to other organisms.

  • Some are useful (e.g. in food production), while others can cause diseases.

Protoctist Kingdom

  • Made of mostly unicellular organisms, but more complex than prokaryotes.

  • They have a true nucleus — their DNA is inside a nuclear membrane.

  • Some, like Euglena, have chloroplasts and make food by photosynthesis.

  • Others, like Amoeba and Paramecium, take in food and act animal-like.

  • Protoctists are often found in water or damp places.
