Definition :
How it happens: Rocks bump, scrape, or rub against each other, or get pushed by wind, water, or ice.
What it does: It breaks off tiny pieces of the rock, makes them smooth, and sometimes even changes their shape.
Where it happens: In rivers, beaches, deserts, and glaciers.
Example: River stones become round and shiny because of abrasion.
Fun Fact:
Abrasion also happens when sand blows in the wind, slowly wearing away rocks over many years!
