When they mix → become safe and normal (neutral)
Simple Example
Acid : Lemon juice
Base : Baking soda
When you mix them → it makes bubbles and becomes neutral.
What do we get after neutralisation?
Salt
Water
Sometimes heat
Acid + Base → Salt + Water
Real-life examples
If you get acid on your hand, you wash with water and use something basic to make it neutral.
Indigestion: Stomach has acid → you take an antacid (a base) to neutralise it.
Fun Fact
