It is important because it helps living organisms continue their species.

Types of Reproduction

There are two main types:

Asexual Reproduction

• Only one parent is needed

• The new organism looks exactly like the parent

• Happens in plants, bacteria, and some animals

Examples:

• Plants growing from cuttings

• Amoeba dividing into two

Sexual Reproduction

• Two parents are needed

• The baby has features from both parents

• Happens in humans and most animals

• It prevents extinction

• It helps increase the number of organisms

• It allows variation in living things
