Gravity
What is Gravity?
Gravity is a force that pulls objects toward each other. On Earth, gravity pulls everything downward toward the center of the Earth.
That’s why:
An apple falls from a tree
We don’t float away into space
Rain falls down, not up
How Gravity Works
Bigger objects = stronger gravityEarth is very big, so its gravity is strong.
All objects have gravity, even you!But your gravity is tiny compared to Earth’s.
Effects of Gravity
Gravity:
Keeps us standing on the ground
Makes objects fall
Holds the air around Earth
Keeps the Moon going around Earth
Keeps planets moving around the Sun
Easy Example
If you throw a ball up:
It goes up
Gravity pulls it back down
Fun Fact!
If Earth had stronger gravity, we would feel much heavier!
