  • Weight: Around 150–200 tons (as heavy as 30 elephants!)



Where do they live?

Blue whales live in all the world’s oceans, from cold polar waters to warmer seas.



What do they eat?

They eat tiny shrimp-like animals called krill.Even though they are huge, they only eat small creatures!



How do they breathe?

They have lungs (not gills), so they come up to the surface to breathe through a blowhole.



How do they communicate?

Blue whales make very loud, deep sounds.Their calls can travel hundreds of kilometers underwater!



How do they reproduce?

  • The mother gives birth to a baby called a calf

  • A calf can drink hundreds of liters of milk every day and grows very fast!
