Definition:

Day and night happen because the Earth spins  on its axis.

Main Points:

• Earth spins like a top.

• It takes 24 hours to make one full spin.

• When your side faces the Sun → it is day.

• When your side turns away from the Sun → it is night.

• The Sun does not move… the Earth moves.

Interesting Points:

• If Earth didn’t spin, one side would always be bright and hot, and the other side would always be dark and freezing!

• Different countries get day and night at different times.

• Sunrise means Earth is turning towards the Sun.

• Sunset means Earth is turning away.

Fun Fact:

Earth spins so smoothly that we don’t even feel it… but it is spinning really fast — about 1,600 km per hour!
