🔵 Perimeter (Edge Distance)
Think of perimeter as walking along the border of something:
If you walk around a garden, the distance you travel is its perimeter.
If you wrap a fence around a playground, the length of the fence needed is the perimeter.
Perimeter is all about the outline — it’s like tracing the edge with your finger.
It applies to any shape — whether a square, circle, or triangle — and is measured in units like meters, feet, etc.
🟢 Area (Surface Space)
Area tells you how much flat space a shape covers:
If you’re painting a wall, the amount of paint needed depends on the area of the wall.
If you're laying tiles on a floor, you need to know the area to buy the right number of tiles.
It’s like filling up the inside of a shape with little squares — how many fit tells you the area.
