Planets orbit the Sun – The Sun’s gravity keeps them moving in circles (ellipses).
Orbits are elliptical – Not perfect circles, but stretched out a little.
Sun is at the center – All planets revolve around it.
Same direction – All planets move around the Sun counterclockwise.
Flat path – Orbits lie on the same flat surface called the ecliptic plane.
Closer = faster – Inner planets like Mercury move faster.
Farther = slower – Outer planets like Neptune move slowly.
Rotation too – Planets spin on their own axis while orbiting the Sun.
Gravity and inertia – Gravity pulls them in, inertia (motion) keeps them moving forward.
Never crash – Because orbits are stable and paths don’t usually cross.
