Sunlight is actually made of many colors all mixed together (like red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and more).

After it rains, tiny water drops are still floating in the sky.

When sunlight shines through these drops, the light bends and spreads out into different colors.

The light bounces inside the water drop and comes back out — but now the colors are separated!

When this happens with lots of water drops, we see a rainbow in the sky. 🌈
