Large Intestine (also called Colon)

Main Job:

• Absorbs water and minerals from leftover food

• Turns waste into solid poop .

Parts of the Large Intestine:

1. Cecum – first part, where the small intestine connects

2. Colon – the longest part

   • Ascending colon (goes up)

   • Transverse colon (goes across)

   • Descending colon (goes down)

   • Sigmoid colon (S-shaped end)

3. Rectum – stores poop

4. Anus – where poop comes out
