Page no : 8 Chapter: 1.2 #biology #Circulatorysystem
Heart: A muscular organ that pumps blood through its four chambers to supply oxygenated and deoxygenated blood to the body and lungs, respectively.
Arteries, Veins, and Capillaries: Blood vessels that transport blood; arteries carry oxygen-rich blood away from the heart, veins return deoxygenated blood, and capillaries enable nutrient and gas exchange.
Pulmonary Circulation: The pathway where deoxygenated blood is sent from the heart to the lungs for oxygenation and then back to the heart.
Systemic Circulation: The pathway where oxygenated blood is distributed from the heart to the rest of the body, and deoxygenated blood is returned to the heart.
Functions: The system delivers oxygen and nutrients to cells, removes waste, regulates body temperature, supports the immune system, and distributes hormones.
