Function: Main site for digestion and absorption of nutrients

Jejunum – absorbs nutrients
Ileum – absorbs vitamins and leftover nutrients
Large Intestine (Wider, but shorter)
Length: About 1.5 meters
Function:
Absorbs water and salts
Stores undigested waste (which becomes feces)
Parts:
Cecum, Colon (ascending, transverse, descending, sigmoid), and Rectum
Key Differences (Point Form):
Length: Small is longer; Large is shorter
Width: Large is wider
Function:
Small – Digestion & nutrient absorption
Large – Water absorption & waste storage
Structure: Small is coiled; Large is more like a frame around it
