Forms of Water
Water is very special because it can change its form. It can be liquid, solid, or gas. These forms are called the three states of water. Let’s learn about them one by one.
1.Liquid Form – Water
This is the water we drink every day.
It flows and takes the shape of the container.
We find liquid water in rivers, lakes, oceans, and rain.
Examples:
✅ Drinking water
✅ Rain
✅ Water in taps and bottles.
2.Solid Form – Ice
When water freezes, it becomes ice.
Ice is hard and cold.
It keeps its shape and does not flow like liquid.
Examples:
✅ Ice cubes in juice
✅ Snow on mountains
✅ Ice cream
3. PGas Form – Water Vapour
When water is heated, it turns into water vapour (a kind of gas).
It rises into the air and is invisible.
It helps form clouds in the sky.
Examples:
✅ Steam from hot tea
✅ Vapour from boiling water
✅ Clouds
🌀 Changing Forms of Water
Water changes from one form to another:
Change From To How?
Freezing Water (liquid) Ice (solid) Put in freezer
Melting Ice (solid) Water (liquid) Leave it in sun
Evaporation Water (liquid) Vapour (gas) Heat it
Condensation Vapour (gas) Water (liquid) Cool the air
