Shadows are made when something blocks light—like the sun or a lamp.
The shape of a shadow matches the object blocking the light.
Shadows change size—they’re longer in the morning and evening, shorter at noon.
You can have more than one shadow if there are multiple light sources.
Shadows are always on the opposite side of the light source.
The closer an object is to the light, the bigger the shadow looks.
Shadows can be sharp or blurry, depending on the light.
Opaque objects make dark shadows, but see-through ones make faint ones.
You can’t see shadows in total darkness because there’s no light!
Animals and people all make shadows, even tiny insects!

Are shadows always black?
Why are shadows bigger closer to the light source?
